PALMERSTON NORTH CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETING
The annual meeting of the Palmerston North Golf Club was held last evening, Mr D. IL. Cook presiding over a large attendance. Much enthusiasm was displayed and the prospects for the coming season are good. Tho chairman extended a welcome to all present, apologising for the absence of the patron (Air A. E. Alansford). The report (already published) and balance-sheet were read and adopted. In moving the adoption of the two documents, Air Cook said that the links had been considerably improved during the year, and the members had reason to be pleased with the playing conditions. ’Pile necessity for an increased membership was stressed, as with more members the club would be in a better position to still further improve the playing conditions. The rent of tlic links had, as earlier arranged, increased from £IOO to £237 10s, and tins factor emphasised the need for a larger membership. The ladies had rendered splendid service, and tournaments liad been very successful. The chib, Mr Cook said, was in a sound position and the prospects were good. He thanked the vice-presi-dents and members of the committee for their co-operation, particularly tlie club captain (Air Tv. Dawkins) and tlie secretary (Air 11. A\ . Alullanoy). 'l’lio election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron, Air A. E. Alansford; president. Air C. V. Ciochetlo; vicepresidents, Alessrs D. H. Cook and AV. R. Hopcroft; club captain. Air K. B. Dawkins; secretary and treasurer, Afr H. AV. Afuilancy: auditor, Air S. T. AFcTvenzie; committee. Alessrs C. D. Fraser, E. Simpson. IT. M. Essex (sitting members), AV. Aitken, E. AA'ilson and R. AV. Renree. A notice of motion brought forward by Aiiss L. AVimsett that the rules be altered to provide that Saturday afternoon women players should pay an establishment levy of IDs 6d instead of £1 Is as at present created some discussion, and on being put to the meeting was defeated. A vote of thanks was accorded the retiring officials. BERIIYAfAN CUP. The A. J. Berryman Cup summer points competition was completed at the week-end by tlie Palmerston North Club with a medal round, tlie last of a series of ten. R. Harkness, playing steady golf, returned a (j.S net to place the issue beyond doubt. Cards scoring points were: 4 — 08 —3pts.: A. Kennedy. 89 —18 —71—2 pts. ; li Alurphv. 80—I I —72 —l lpls. ; P.
