FARMERS LOAD MEAT

WATERFRONT TROUBLES. PURLS HA RLE LOAD SAWED. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Alarcli J'J. Further discussions with the .Minister ol Labour and union officials will bo bold to-morrow by the employers, it is understood, in an attempt to settle the trouble on the Wellington waterfront. The loading of P2OO quar* tors of chilled beef on the Doric Star was completed by 7.30 p.m. with the assistance of clerks and farmers. A number of farmers came from .Masterton to assist with the work. No attempt was made to load the other cargo.

There are still about 10,000 frozen carcases, 1200 boxes of butter, 1100 crates of cheese, some thousands of boxes of fruit and about 4500 bales of wool to be loaded on the Done Star. The Doric Star was to have sailed on Saturday for Port Chalmers to continue loading, but she will not get away till Tuesday night, even if work is resumed normally to-morrow. She was to have loaded fruit at Port Chalmers and the delay has increased the shortage of storage space there. It is believed arrangements have been made to load some of the fruit on another ship.

A number of sliijrs apart from overseas vessels and inter-island steamers required labour but could nt be manned. The Waipahi and Alaunganui sailed on Saturday afternoon, both without completing loading. ' The Alaunganui also had on board a cargo which had not been discharged.
