Feb. 21. _ Most enjoyable was the Guy Cup tennis match played on the local court between Cheltenham and Stairway on Saturday, this being the final match in the first round of the competition. After some exciting and closely contested games, the Stanway team proved too strong for the visitors, the result being: Stamvuy, 10 games; Cheltenham, 6. The details of play are as follow: —Mixed doubles: bliss J. Groves and M. Loot beat Miss L. Stratford and A. Humphrey, 6 —3; Miss L. Marshall and K. Marshall lost to Miss D. Hill and M. Sterne; she is recuperating after being in the Palmerston North Hospital for some weeks. Mr 11. Guy, who is still an inmate of a private hospital in Palmerston North, is making satisfactory progress. Miss Jocelyn Chamberlain is the guest of her aunt Mrs U. 15. Miles. Mrs McGilvray, of Sydney, lias been the guest of Mrs 11. Jefferies. Mr and Mrs J. Wathcrston and family have returned home after a pleasant fortnight’s holiday at Kai Iwi. Miss Iris Craino. is a visitor to Hamilton.
