INFANTILE PARALYSIS.

Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Feb. 20.

A case of infantile paralysis has been notified to the Wellington office of the Health Department and the sufferer, a boy of five, living in Wellington, has been admitted to hospital. He is a positive case accompanied by paralysis. Dr. F. S. MacLcan, Medical Officer of Health at Wellington, said to-day that sporadic cases of poliomyeltis were quite customary and were to be expect ed.

“They may exist,” Dr. Mac( can added, ‘“without there being any risk of epidemic; in fact, seldom a month goes past without a case occurring somewhere in New Zealand, though for a few months after an epidemic districts will be very free of cases. The previous Wellington notification was in August, 1937.”
