NAPIER WOOL SALE
KEEN OVERSEAS DEMAND. FIRM ON WELLINGTON. Per Press Association. NAPIER, Feb. 21. The third wool sale was held at Napier to-day with an offering of 27,400 bales. There was a full attendance of buyers and competition was more widespread than at previous sales. There was a good inquiry from America and Japan. with the Continent and Bradford making the pace. Throughout the auction values were fully firm on the recent Wellington sale and showed a shade of improvement on the January Napier sale. The quality of the offering was not so good at either of the previous sales this season and comprised mostly good to medium top-making sorts, with an absence of outstanding lots. A good clearance was effected, with few passings. Prices realised during the morning showed the following range of values for good standard lots: Super crossbred. —llid to 12id. Fino crossbred. —10|d to llid. Medium. —9J-d to KHd. Necks. —91 d and lOd. Pieces. —B£-d to 9d. Lambs. —10Jd to 12}d. Hoggets.—lOd to llid.
