Mr G. M. Whitelock, of Newbury, has been appointed a judge at the Whangarei A. and P. Show. Detective-Sergeant A. B. Meiklejohn has resumed his duties at Palmerston North after spending his annual leave at Oncroa, north of Auckland.
The French Government has awarded the distinction of Chevalier of the Legion of Honour to Rt. Rev. Dr James Liston, Catholic Bishop of Auckland, a.nd to Sir Garrick Robertson, of Auckland. The death has occurred at Wellington of Air Frank Glasgow, who was a, 1905 All Black. The manager of the To Aro branch of the Bank of New Zealand, Air Glasgow was aged 58. — Press Association.
Messrs D. E. Wanklyn (chairman) and E. E. Luttrel! (secretary) of the New Zealand Cricket Council, are visitors to Palmerston North for tho cricket match—Minor Associations v. Sir Julien Calm’s XI. Archbishop O’Shea, Metropolitan of New Zealand, who recently visited Rome and had an audience with the late Pope Pius XL, has been in Ireland. He is not expected to return to Wellington before Easter. Mr William Spence (general secretary of the British National Union of Seamen! is about to sail for Australia, where be will confer with the Seamen’s Union, according to a cablegram. Later he will visit New Zealand.
Rev. M. A. Rugby Pratt, Christchurch, has completed 12 years as connexional secretary of the Methodist Church of New Zealand, and was congratulated at the annual conference of the church in Christchurch on Friday on the beginning of his third six-year term in office.
