LONDON SHEEPSKIN SALES.

COMPETITION FAIRLY ACTIVE,

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., have received the following advice from their London house, dated February 17: —London sheepskin sales. There was a good attendance at the opening of the sales to-day, competition by Homo, Continent and American buyers being fairly active. As compared with the close of the preceding series prices are about the 6ame. Tho opening catalogues were fairly representative. Current quotations for New Zealand sheepskins: 56-58’s: Full-woolled sound pelts, B|d per lb; threo-quarter-woolled sound pelts, 7ad; half-woolled sound pelts, 7d. 48-50’s: Full-woolled sound pelts, 7-id; three-quarter-woolled sound pelts, 7d; halfwoolled sound pelts. 6Jd. 44-46’s: Fullwoolled sound pelts 7 throe-quarter-woolled sound pelts, 7d; half-woolled sound pelts, 6|d. 40’s: Full-woolled sound pelts, I\A ; threo-quarter-woolled sound pelts, 6Jd ; half-woolled sound pelts, 6jd ; short and shorn sound pelts, 3id to 5Jd. Dalgcty and Co., Ltd., have received the following cablegram dated February 16: At the London sheepskin sales there was a good selection; 3704 bales were offered and 85 per cent. sold. Good competition. America principal operators, with .good support from Home trade and Continent. Halfbreds unchanged; other descriptions change if any is in favour of sellers. The range of prices is as follows:—Merino, three-quarter to full-woolled, not quoted; Merino, quarter to half-woolled, not quoted; Merino, short and shorn, not quoted; crossbred, three-quarter to fullwoolled, fine, 6|d to B|d ; crossbred, threequarter to full-woolled, medium and coarse, 6d to 8d ; crossbred, quarter to half-woolled fine, 6d to 7d; crossbred, quarter to halfwoolled, medium to coarse, s|d to 7d; crossbred, short and shorn, not quoted; lambs, 6|d to 83d.
