SCHOOL FOR DETECTIVES.
(From Our Own Correspondent,.) L SYDNEY, Feb. 11. A school for detectives, which will be regularly attended by about 200 plainclothes police and others who have not passed the examination for the rank of detective, has been inaugurated by Mr W. J. MacKav, Commissioner of lolice in New South Wales. Tho Commissioner views with some disquiet the number of major crimes that remain unsolved in New South Wales, and he proposes to demand greater efficiency and better results in crime detection.
Those attending the school will, at the end of the course, liavo to submit to an oral and also a written examination on,.a series of questions. Practical results obtained by e.ach man in actual crime detection will also be taken into account in finally judging his merits.
