CANTERBURY MARKETS.
Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 17. There have been few changes in the Canterbury grain and produce markets this week. Plains cocksfoot has been offering fairly" freely at the unchanged rate of 6d a lb., but only. a few • lots of peninsular seed have yet come on the market. The peninsular crop is reported to be a good one. Tho demand for cocksfoot is not good and very little is being sold. Ryegrass is fairly firm, but seed showing good germination is still very difficult to find. Perennial showing 80 per cent, or better germination is quoted at 3s 6d to 4s, and Italian at 2s 6d to 2s 9d,_both quotations being more or less nominal. Only one or two early lots of white clover have yet been threshed, but . there are prospects of some fair-sized parcels offering next month. The quotation is 9d to Is a lb. Cowgrass is still dead with old season s quoted at 4d to 6d. Wheat is now coming on to the market freely and the quality continues to be good. Oats are also much more plentiful, but thero is no demand for them. Good heavy Gartons are quoted at 2s 6d, with IPs at 2s 4d, and Algerians up to 2s lOd. The potato market is. quiet again, though the nominal quotation has moved up to £5.
