A considerably' better tone prevailed at to-day’s Masterton ram fair, and values well on a par with vendors’ expectations were realised for flock Southdowns. Tlie entry was well m excess of last year’s, but bulk of the offering was disposed of either under the hammer or by private tr pnees for flock Southdowns ranged from 2gns to 28gns with the average about 4.gns. Stud Southdowns sold consistently well, the top P ri “ )f 82gns realised by Mr V . J. for a splendid ram sold to Mr . Howard Booth, of Carterton. Dock Ryelands and English not very keenly sought after. It was a very good sale for good sheep.
