An explosion in a sewer in Hampton Hill, Twickenham, London, flung » workman through a manhole on to the roof of a house 20ft high. His clothes and hair were burnt off, and his rubber hoots were melted by the hurst of flame. He struck a fourchimneyed stack, knocking some of the brickwork away, and fell into the front garden. The man, Horace Trew Nicholas, aged 41, of Hanworth, was taken to hospital with severe injuries to his back and burns. He died later.
