ARCHITECT’S REPORT. A report on the condition of schools ■mas presented by the architect (Mr E. It. Hodge) at this week’s meeting of the Wanganui Education Board. The Education Department, notified a grant to cover the c-oot of replacing the fuel ehed destroyed bv fire at Te Arakura. The architect .asked for further time to report on the committee’s application for the erection of a residence for tho head teacher.

It was decided to make an Application to the department for a grant to cover the installation of electric stoves and hot water services in all teachers’ residences where considered necessary. Spur Road. —An application was received to reopen the school. There were seven children who could attend. —The senior inspector is to report. Halcombe. —A tender for the conveyance of children from Stanway under

consolidation, at lOd peT mile, was approved for a period of four years, and will be recommended to the department. Carnarvon. —The department notified that it was unable to provide a Government bus for consolidation with Rongotea this year. Meanwhile a permanent teacher is to be appointed.
