HIGHWAY FATALITY.
WOMAN DRIVER’S DEATH. TWO CARS CAPSIZE. Per Press Association. WANGANUI, Feb. 18. Through the car which she was driving from Palmerston North to Wanganui capsizing at 1.45 o’clock this morning near Putiki, Mrs 'Marjorie Hughes, married, with three children, the wife of Mr A. J. Hughes, the manager of the Fordell Timber Coy., suffered injuries from which she succumbed shortly after admission to the Wanganui Hospital. Mrs Hughes, with three passengers, was returning from Palmerston North and passed another car near Putiki. The vehicle immediately capsized and the driver of the second car was compelled to swerve suddenly to avoid the upturned car; also his car capsized, and he and his four passengers escaped uninjured. Mrs Hughes’s passengers sustained slight injuries.
