YOUNG MOTOR-CYCLISTS.

TRAINING IN CAREFULNESS. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Feb. 16. The desirability of forcing young people applying for a license to ride a motor-cycle to join some organisation which would train them in the careful use of machines was expressed by the Minister of Transport (Hon. It. Semple), in addressing members of the Auckland Road Safety Committee. In view of the number of accidents involving motor-cyclists, the Minister considered some form, of training for learners necessary. The remark was made when membors of the committee asked the Minister if the Government intended stopping pillion riding and imposing severe restrictions on motor-cyclists. Mr Semple said ho was satisfied more had to be done to reduce the number of fatal accidents. While he had no special restrictions in mind, the committee would have the opportunity of discussing the matter with him before anything drastic was contemplated.
