TRUCK LEAVES ROAD.
DEFENCE DRIVER INJURED. Per Press Association. TAIHAPE, Feb. 16. The second accident in three months in which an artillery truck has been involved occurred six miles from Taihape last evening. The lorry was returning to Waiouru Camp when aleak developed in a rear tyre. The driver decided to turn back for repairs, but the truck then left the road, crashing 30ft. down a bank. The driver, Sergeant H. Gillespie, aged 25, of Duncan Street, Wanganui East, received concussion and was admitted to the Taihape Hospital, and his companion, Private W. T. Collerton, of Taihape, received slight injuries to his back. He was able to return to liis home. These were the only occupants of the lorry.
