COLYTON.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) COLYTON, Feb. 15. Mr and Mrs A. Funston entertained a number of friends at their home, the occasion being the celerbation of the com-ing-of-age of their second daughter Jean, who made a charming hostess and was the recipient of many beautiful gifts. Those present included Mr and Mrs A. Funston, Misses A. J. and D. Funston, 11. Hoeken, M. Norlhcott and J. Smith. Messrs R. Funston, N. and W. Ilocken, R. Wealleans, B. lidmundson, and N. Williamson. The tennis season is now in full swing, and practice nights, on Mondays and Thursdays, are being well patronised. A mixed doubles tournament for the club’s silver buttons was held recently. Following some keenly contested games Miss V. Woodman and Mr C. Wilson emerged the winners, with Miss IT. Ilocken and Mr A. O. Simpson as runners-up. Competition for the Gray Cup, played on the Aratika courts, is very keen, the present holders being Miss 11. Ilocken and Mr J. Humphreys, who beat Mrs W. O. Caldwall and Mr R. Wealleans, who have been the holders for some considerable time. On Monday evening a meeting was held. Means to raise funds for the repairing of the courts were discussed, it being decided that a dance bo held. Supper .■’rrangements are to be left in the hands of the ladies’ committee. Mr D. Thurston lias returned to ■ the Wellington Training College. Mr Gordon McVicnr left recently for Christchurch, whore he will represent the Feilding Methodist Church at the annual conference.
