COSMOPOLITAN CLUB

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Cosmopolitan Club was held on February 14, Air E. K. Fleming presiding. In the course or nis annual report the chairman stated inter alia:—The committee lias endeavoured to promote that feeling of goodwill and sociability which should bo one of the most important features of the club, and I think we can say this has been achieved. A number of successful functions were held; the first a social and dance for members and their wives when the opportunity was taken to present the late president (Mr Aloody) with a slight token of appreciation of his long services to the club; later, a smoke-concert, and then,, early in December, the club’s annual picnic. The various amenities have been well supported. Enjoyable billiard and snooker tournaments were held. AVc visited the Fcilding Club on two occasions and while Feilding won the billiards and bowls trophy, our club was successful in winning the Seifert Cup and retaining the miniature billiard table. Exchange visits were held with the Napier and Eotone Clubs, and I had the honour of representing our club at the diamond jubilee of the Blenheim "Working Aron’s Club. Euchre tournaments have been held. This year represents the 50th anniversary of the club and it is a recommendation from the present committee that early steps he taken to prepare a suitable jubilee programme for next- August. In view of the estimated cost of this it is proposed to subordinate all our usual social activities of the year to the jubilee. A souvenir programme T.'ill be prepared and members knowing interesting details of the early history of the club have been asked to forward them. In conclusion I wish the club and its members continued prosperity and success and trust that the ensuing year will be as pleasant and happy as has been the past year.
