PAPATAWA INSTITUTE.
Owing to sickness and the fact that some members are still holidaymaking the attendance was not good at the February meeting of the Papatawa Women’s Institute. Mrs K. Martin presided and extended a welcome to those present and to Miss Hazel Johnson, of Massey College. Votes of sympathy were extended to one exmember who is ill in Wellington and to another member who has sickness in the family. An invitation to the Puipui Institute’s birthday was received and the junior members were asked to supply an item for this function. It i was resolved to forward the community cloth to the Centennial Exhibition for display in the Women’s Institute arts and crafts section. The present executive members of the Papatawa Women’s Institute were again nominated for office. The results of the monthly competitions were as follow: —Senior, best result from 2oz. wool, Mrs Southbrook (child’s pull-over); juniors, best result from 2 oz. wool. Miss J. Gilbert, (child’s frock). Mrs Johnson, who judged the workcomplimented the winners on the excellence of their entries. For her subject Miss Johnson took “Diet” and lier talk was illustrated by charts, photographs and diagrams. The speaker was accorded a vote of thanks on the motion of the president.
