WOODVILLE & DISTRICT
UNDER-STAFFED SCHOOL. VISIT OF BOARD MEMBER. The present understaffing of the District High School, necessitating nearly sixty of the pupils being instructed by the headmaster, was impressed Last evening upon Mr H. S. M. Quigley, of Dannevirke, a member of the Hawke’s Bay Education Board, when he paid a visit to Woodville and met the chairman of the committee (Mr R. R. Johnston), Messrs A. M. Bickering (secretary of the committee), L. J. Whittington (also a committeeman) and the h end master (Mr J. iS. Mcßean). The hardship imposed upon the staff in consequence of the lack of teachers was recognised by Mr Quigley, who promised to bring the matter as an urgent one before the board at its meeting to-morrow. The need of various furnishings for the school was also urged by the chairman, and Mr Quigley undertook to have the visit of the board’s architect expedited nu promptly as possible.
