Deprived of his sight at tho ago of eight through meeting with an accident, Mr Robert Ayson, has died at Toiro, in his ninetieth year. Bom in tho Highlands of Scotland, he came to Otago in 1853. Notwithstanding the loss of his sight, he gained an incredible knowledge of the countryside and was able to travel in any part of the Clutha district unaided. His blindness had no effect whatever upon his character, and he was always of a most cheerful and happy disposition. Possessed of a fine baritone voice, he was always prominent at social gatherings, hi 6 specialty being Scottish songs.
