FIRST INNINGS WIN.

FOR SOUTHERN HAWKE’S BAY

A first innings victory was recorded by Southern Hawke’s Bay against the Manawatu eleven, when the game was continued at the Sportsground after the luncheon adjournment yesterday. In their first innings Manawatu put on only 98 runs, to which the visitors replied with 177 for the loss of seven wickets and declared their innings closed. When time was called, Manawatu had five wickets down for 84 in their second strike. For the visitors Bolton made 63 and Bailey 43. Fredrickson was their most destructive bowler, taking five wickets for 31. McSkimming headed the batting in Mana-wat-u’s first innings with 23, and in the second strike Edwards put on 31.
