At the annual conference of agricultural int=l ruetore and farm managers held at Hawkcsbury Agricultural College. New South Wales, the agristoiogist., Mr J. N. Wliittet. stressed the value of red clover ill building up organic matter in the soil. He _ suggested that 1939 be a “red clover project year” in coastal and table-land areas, and that this species be concentrated upon in the pastures laid down. Mr Whittet also recommended that farmers be urged to conserve and use farmyard manure*.
