ANNUAL PICNIC. The annual picnic of the Manawatu Scottish Society was held at the Awapuni racecourse yesterday. The weather was all that could be desired for such a gathering. Owing to pressure of business, the chief (Air J. S. Jenkinson) had to leave the gathering earlv and the arrangements were in the hands of Alessrs V. J. Nicholson, Y. Al. Team and D. AfeDowell. Aliss C. Cooksley, of Opiki, acted a* judge for tho Highland dancing competitions. Running sports were also popular with those present. Dorothy Mcloan won the major cup and another trophy.
