AIARTON, Jan. 23
The sixtieth anniversary of the formation of the Mnrton Volunteer Fire Brigade was celebrated last night in a manner befitting the occasion. A smoke concert held in the Druids Hull was attended by 85 brigadesmen, including representatives of six 9utsl.de brigades, Borough Councillors, and others. The Mayor (Mr F. Purnell) presided, and at the close of the proceedings. was accorded musical honours. The long tables along cither side, down the centre, and across the end of the hall, had been tastefully decorated by the wives of the local bri-
gade members. The programme consisted of a toast list which permitted of many interesting reminiscences ns well as the customary felicitous remarks, interspersed with items, anecdotes and refreshments. No inter-club cricket competition games were played in Alarton on Saturday owing to the representative mate'll at Rawer a. _ A picnic game between Colts and A etornns resulted in a will for Colts by one run.
