MANAWATU TOURNEY. TO-DAY’S PLAY. Fine weather prevailed at the Linton Street courts this morning for the continuation of the Manawatu Lawn Tennis Association’s residential championships. No surprises occurred and most of the early rounds were completed without a hitch. Results:— CHAMPIONSHIPS. MEN’S DOUBLES. Second round. Chapman and O’Brien beat S. and W. • Cooper, 6—4, 6—2. Third round.—Christie and Spring beat Harvey and Harvey, 6—3, 7—5. WOMEN’S SINGLES. Second round.—Miss L. Robertson beat Mrs Bull, 3—6, 6—4, B—6. Semi-final.—Mrs Hobin beat Miss Ilaggitt, 6—l, 6—2. HANDICAP EVENTS. MEN’S SINGLES. Second round. —S. I. McKenzie (ser) beat W. S. Fox (r 3-6). by default; D. Spencer (r 3-6), beat B. Louisson ( 2- 10—8; D. Speedy ( —3-6) beat D.
