ADEN’S CENTENNIAL.
CLIMAX OF CELEBRATIONS. XING’S MESSAGE. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Jan. 19. The Aden centennial celebrations reached a climax to-day, which was the 100th anniversary of the hoisting of the British flag, when the Governor (Sir Bernard Reilly), at a centennial parade, read congratulatory messages from His Majesty the King and Mr Malcolm MacDonald (Colonial SecreThc King’s message stated: “The history of Aden is bound up with the seafaring traditions of which the British Empire is so justly proud. Though the youngest of the colonies, Adcm lias for many years past formed an essential link’ in the maritime communications of the Empire, and to-day her people are celebrating the centennial of loyal and devoted service to the British Crown. I look forward with confidence not only to the maintenance of past traditions but also to the continued development of the colony and the increasing prosperity ot its inhabitants.”
