SANDON.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) SANSON, Dec. 23. . the president (Mr A. K. Drew) was m the chair at the annual general meeting of the Sanson Sports .Club. 'There were present Messrs C. E. Egiinton, A. H. San--6°n > T. S. Collier, B. S. Lawrence, G. J. Arnott, A. Kilpatrick, J. F. Bradley, M. Pearce, J. C. Fagan, K. M. Pearce, K. Henson, and the lion, secretary (Mr S. L. Orr). An apology for absence was received from Messrs F. J. Bowator and E. Wilcock. H The annual report stated, inter alia:— “The year proved a most - successful one. We were fortunate in having a fine day for the sports, with the result that the attendance was excellent. This factor and the work of the. committees made the function an outstanding success. Entries for the shield events were again well maintained, and the' events were run off in excellent time. The competition for the shields was of a very interesting nature, Levin District High School (primary department) winning the McKclvie Shield by a comfortable margin from Kopane School, while the Sanson School annexed the Hornblow Shield for the first time from the Kopane School,_ which had been the winners since the shield was first competed for. The comparatively new shield for sole-teacher schools, known as the Fagan-Henson Shield, was won by Carnarvon, the previous whiners, Awahuri, not defending their title. The decision of the club to include senior running events in the programme was a wise one, and we are pleased to report that the inclusion of these events added considerably to the popularity of the sports. The success of the programme is duo to Mr S. L. Kent for stepping into the secretarial duties on the day in the absence of the secretary. With such large fields the task of the committee in controlling so many events is a difficult one and it is a pleasure to record that everything Avont off without a hitch.’’.
