For settlers living in the immediate vicinity of the gap, a pedestrian approach has been made from one side to. the other. The chairman of tlie Woodville County Council (Mr M. 0. Grainger) and a number of other members of the council, visited the site on Wednesday.
Before the last downpour, harvesting was in progress in many parts of the district, and now there are sodden crops of hay only. Some of these were very heavy owing to the great growth which had been experienced on numerous farms.-
