RAILWAY IMPROVEMENT.
CROSSING LOOP IN GORGE. In order to assist in more expeditious and more convenient train-running, a crossing loop is now being constructed on the Manawatu Gorge railway, operations having begun last week. The loop is about a mile and a-half from the Gorge station, and will give a crossing point in the eight and alialf miles distance between Ashhurst and Woodville. The crossing will lie about half-way between those two points and will thus be easily accessible for trains from either direction. Twelve men, mostly from Woodville, are engaged on the building of the loop.
