ATHLETICS AND CYCLING

FEILDING CLUB. The annual meeting of the Feilding j Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club was held last evening, Mr F. A. Dalzel] presiding over an attendance ot 22 members. The annual report (already publish|ed) and the balance-sheet, showing a credit balance of £3l, were adopted. The president congratulated the club team on winning the Hope-Gib-bons Shield and expressed his hope that the trophy would l>e in their possession for many years to come. It was decided to change the club's savings account from the Post Office to a trading bank, and the secretary and Mr H. Smithers (trustee) were authorised to sign cheques. It was decided to forego its 25 per cent, of the entry fees collected from competitors in both the cycling and athletic divisions. On the motion of Mr A. Eade it was decided to give a 10s 6d trophy for the first Feilding rider to finish out of a place in the Palmerston North-IVel-lington road race on Saturday. The new committee was instructed to take steps to ensure that runners wear uniform yellow and black jersevs.

It was decided to apply to the West Coast Cycling Centre for a ruling on the eligibility or otherwise of a rider competing in another club’s races. The conditions for competition for the Bain Cyclists’ Cup are to be reviewed by the incoming committee. On the motion of Mr McGregor it was an instruction to the new committee to go

into the matter of evening road races during the summer months. It was decided to allocate a points trophy for lady competitors. A vote of thanks to the chairman and secretary for their services was carried. Air P. G. Guy was welcomed as a new member. The election of officers resulted: Patron. Air H.
