600 ENGAGEMENTS IN YEAH. HANKOW, Aug. 26. The commander of the Chinese Communist Bth Route Army says < that his men have in the past year fought 600 engagements, inflicted 34,000 casualties, and taken 2000 prisoners. He is tjuite confident that the Chinese will push the Japanese hack to the sea. A Shanghai message bays that the British Ambassador has protested to the Japanese Ambassador about the censor's suppression of British messages dealing with the incident when the international 'plane was shot down by Japanese pursuit 'planes and challenging his right to interfere with incoming and outgoing despatches. Three bodies have been recovered from the submerged 'plane.
