CHINESE ALLEGATIONS. Received August 27, 9.35 a.m. LONDON, Aug. 26. The Chinese Embassy alleges that a further Japanese gas attack took place at Juichang on August 23. HARMLESS SMOKESCREEN. JAPANESE EXPLANATION. Received August 27, 9.25 a.m. TOKIO, Aug. 26. The War Office spokesman denies the use of poison gas though a smokescreen of a harmless nature had pos-
sibly been employed.
