POWER SUPPLY.
To-morrow afternoon the supply of power well be interrupted for about three hours in the area between Oolyton, Punnythorpe, Newbury and Aorangi. The Power Board has'a big job ahead, as it has to run new heavy cables from the sub-ctation to James’s Line, which is the first part cf the programme - to supply the requirements of the Royal Air Force Station at Ohakea. As this mile of line involves four circuits that supply the counties of Kairanga and Manawatu, as well as the Feilding Borough-Halcombe area, a temporary line one mile long has been built and this will be cut into service to maintain the supply while the major work of running twelve new cables ie carried out. Later, another -cut-off will take place to enable the new cables to be connected into service. These new cables weight nearly one and a-half tons per mile, so that the board’s staff has to run out over 17 tons of cable in the present job, which can , only be done when/the freezing works can be shut off.
