TRAMPER’S DEATH.
EVIDENCE AT INQUEST. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Aug. 26. , The opinion that tho presence of an army of doctors could not have prevented the death of Arthur Fredric, aged 22, a clerk, in the Tararua Ranges on August 14 was expressed by Dr. P. P. Lynch at the inquest to-day before the Coroner (Mr E. Gilbertson). Members of tbe party described how Fredric collapsed and died when the party was returning to the Alpha Hut after an unsuccessful attempt to reach Otaki Forks.
f Dr. Lynch, who had conducted a post-mortem examination, said that tho diseased condition of y Fredric’s heart was such that it might have caused his death at any time, quite apart from any question of effort, or strain. Deceased had apparently shown no signs of being in anything but a good state of health, said the Coroner, and he was satisfied that everything had been done that was possible at the time. A verdict was returned that deceased had died from heart disease.
