ROTORUA TITLE. AVON BY HAMILTON YOUTH. Per Press Association. I ROTORUA, Aug., 26. 'Maintaining the brilliant form which had characterised his earlier matches, the 18-year-old Hamilton scratch player, R. H. Glaring, won the Rotorua open golf championship this afternoon when he beat the veteran Aucklander, H. B. Lusk, over 36 holes by 9 up and 8 to play. Glading played an almost flawless game, his success being largely due to accurate putting. He had two birdies, also an eagle three at the fifth. The Thermal Cup was won by K. M. Wilson (Auckland) who beat L. F. Potter (Wellsford), 2 up. Against R. H. Oraig (Taumarunui), N. Amon (Manawatu), who had earlier given promise of being one of the finalists, had an unaccountable lapse of form, and gave a very erratic display to be beaten one down, says the Auckland Herald report of Thursday's play. Each fighting out the issue doggedly, Lusk and L. Drummond (Dajinevirke), who defeated H. D. Brinsden on Wednesday, went to the 18th on Thursday with Lusk one down. Drummond played a bad second, which fell short of the green and lost the hole to Lusk, who did a safe four on the next. Drummond bunkered his second and, after making a good recovery, missed a short putt which cost him the game.
