A LONGBURN FINALIST.
GRAND OPERA CONTEST. Four competitors have been selected from the nineteen entrants to sing in the linal of the grand opera contest at Wellington to-night. They are: Miss Olga Burton, Khandallah; Mrs Richard Bradley, Upper Hutt: Miss Marie Campbell, Timaru; and Mr C. Sherrills, Longhorn. Among the entrants who were heard last night were Mr Sherriffs. “So Pagliacci Non Son”; Mr Adrian Rowe (Rongotea). ’“Prologue to Pagliacci,” and Miss Margaret D. Feist (Palmerston North), “0 Mio Fernando.”
The first prize is payment of the expenses of travelling to Ballarat and Melbourne and entering the Sun aria from grand opera contest, which carries rich cash prizes and opens the door to a vocal career.
