The death occurred, yesterday of Mr W. G. Beard, a well-known re-’ tired solicitor, of Masterton, ao-ed 88 y'ears. He leaves three daughters and two sons. Mr Beard had resided in Masterton for nearly sixty years Press Association. .

During his travels he will seek to interest European churchmen in the New Zealand Catholic Congress which is being organised with the encouragement of civic authorities to coincide with the New Zealand centennial cehv brations in 1940.—Press Association
