COMPENSATION TEST CASE.
Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Aug.. 25. As a test case, the claims of A. Wilkinson, a trucker, and J. Jenkins, a shiftman, against Glen Afton ' Collieries, Ltd., for compensation beyond amounts already paid were submitted to the First Arbitration Court today by Mi - C. J. O’Regan, counsel for 5 plaintiffs. Mr H. P. Richmond appeared for Glen Afton Collieries, Ltd. It was stated the men were working/ for the company' under a private agreement stipulating five days’ work: weeklv, and on Saturdays when required. For Saturday work the menhad been paid compensation on the basis of a five-day .week,. They claimed compensation on the basis of" six days" as the full working week. The question for the Court was the interpretation of the agreement in order to decide what was a full working week. Mr Justice O’Regan said the Court would, take time to consider its decision. . . -
