WELLINGTON, Aug. 26. A very intense anti-cyclone covers New Zealand, the highest pressure being off the East Coast. The cyclone off the New South Wales coast appears to have lost energy, but conditions are still disturbed over the north Tasman Sea. Forecast: Light to moderate, hut freshening south-easterly to easterly winds. Weather: Cloudy to overcast with occasional light rain mainly east of the ranges. Temperatures, milder; seas, slight to moderate, but rising. RIVER GAUGE. Noon.—3ft.
