KIPLING SCHOLARSHIP.

FIRST AWARD MADE. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Aug. 25. Having been awarded the first ltudyard Kipling Memorial Scholarship in New Zealand, John Spencer Pallot, aged 13, of King’s College, Auckland, a son of Mr Walter J. Pallot, of Napier, left Auckland to-day by the Rangitata for London to enrol at the Imperial Service College, near Windsor, for a three years’ course. He was accompanied by his mother. For four years the boy attended the Southwell Preparatory School, Hamilton. Last year lie was dux of the school and the winner of the science cup. He entered King’s College as the winner of a scholarship for boys in New Zealand preparatory schools, and had shown all-round scholastic ability.
