TERRITORIAL FORCES.
MEETING OF CITIZENS. EFFORTS FOR EXPANSION. Convened hv the Mayor (Mr A. E. Mansford), a meeting of citizens was hold last evening to investigate the possibilities of increasing the Territorial strength in the city. The meeting was addressed by Captain Barry, of the Defence Department, and it was decided to form a Territorial Association. Tlie association is to act as a link between interested citizens and employers and the department. It was pointed out that it was most desirable to have an increase in the number of Territorials in Palmerston North, and also that Territorial activities were to-day very different from those of some years ago, with the development of mechanised units anti a number of other new features. Efforts are now to he made to increase the membership of the association, with the object of carrying out educational representations both among employers and young men themselves, potential members of Territorial units.
