The new Consul-General for Germany in New Zealand (Herr Ernst C. Rimm) arrived at Sydney yesterday. The vicar of the Hunterville parish, Rev. Roxborough Wallace, has resigned his charge and will relinquish his duties in November. Mr H. Linley Richardson, the former Palmerston North artist, is in London with Mrs Richardson, and will shortly hold an exhibition here, states an overseas exchange. Mr N. H. Mackie, formerly Government valuer at Palmerston North, and now chief valuer, has been elected president of the newly-formed New Zealand Institute of Valuers.

The Mayor (Mr A. E. Mansford) left for Wellington to-day to attend a meeting of the Centennial Exhibition Provincial Committee, which is to be held to-morrow. One of the major points to be discussed is the grouping of the provincial courts. The Manawatu-Oroua branch of the New Zealand Pig Breeders’ Association, to-day, decided to forward a letter to Mr C. P. McMeekan, who was formerly secretary of the branch, congratulating him on the attainment of the Doctorate of Philosophy at Cambridge University, England. Mr T. D. M. Stout was elected president of the AVellington-Taranaki-Hawke’s Bay Division of the New Zealand Branch of the British Empire Cancer Campaign Society at the annual meeting held yesterday. The retiring president, Sir Janies Elliott, referred to the excellent work being done by Mr Stout. Mr J. P, Brodie, who has been appointed engineer-clerk to the Weber County Council served his apprenticeship und<?r Mr U. A. Hart, formerly city engineer, AVellington. Mr Brodie has been on the staff of the AVellington City Council for 10 years. He received his secondary education at the Southland Boys’ High School, and later at Victoria University College. In A\ Tellington he was well known in the harrier field, having been an active runner for over 11 years in the Olympic and Presbyterian Harrier Clubs.
