WAR RELIEF FUNDS

ADMINISTRATION INVESTIGATED. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Aug. 24. A suggestion made last year that the cost of administering the New Zealand relief funds of the Great War be investigated with a view to economies being effected was mentioned at the annual meeting of the War Funds Council, to-day. The Minister of Internal Affairs (Hon. W. E. Parry), who attended the meeting, said much headway had been made in the investigation as a result of plans laid down by the special committee appointed for the purpose. The theme of the investigation had been embodied in a questionnaire submitted to the various patriotic societies and kindred organisations dispensing war relief funds, and the information was now being collated for the consideration of the committee which had been set up as the result of frequent suggestions that there be an alteration in the system governing the distribution in relation to administration. No reflection in any way was meant to be conveyed on the work performed by the War Funds Council, which had rendered splendid service.
