(From Our Own Correspondent.) OTAKI, Aug. 24.
The Minister of Finance (Hon. W. Nash) is expected to pay a visit to Otaki on Saturday. Mr Winstono, one of the unfortunate' in th<? Ratana train accident, leaves shortly on a tour of the Cook Islands for health reasons. The funeral of the late Mr Kupa Hawea took place yes ; terday The stewards of the Otaki Maori Racing Club, with the president (Mr Heno McMillan) acted as pall-bearers, while Rev. I Paora Temuera conducted the services. \ pleasant evening was speid at the Catholic Parish Hall. The winners of the euchre prizes were Mr B. King and Mrs Bell (firsts) . and Mr Beauchamp and Mrs H MrDuncan n >Viiso n , the well-known (horseman, received a nasty spill when his horse slipped and fell.
