Leach, cerise georgette. GIRL GUIDES. ' ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Woodville Girl Guide committee was held on Tuesday afternoon, when Mrs R. G. Smith presided. A brief report reviewed the activities of the committee during the past year and the balance-sheet showed a satisfactory state-of affairs. The Guide captain (Miss E. J. Beattie) outlined the work and progress of the troop under her care, and was congratulated and thanked by the meeting for her untiring efforts. It was decided to hold a social evening early in October and to invite all past Guides. It was generally thought that the supervision of both the Guides and Brownies was an unwarranted responsibility for one person and strenuous efforts are being made to enlist a volunteer to take over the Brownies. An appeal was issued to all girls to join either the Guide or Brownie movement. The president (Mrs Smith) expressed the pleasure of the meeting in Mrs. Baker’s return, from hospital. At the conclusion of the business afternoon tea was served. . This had been provided by the president, the secretary, Mrs N. J. Gilbert, and Miss Beattie. , NOTES. / There will be a hockey parctice at the Recreation Ground on Saturday in view of the challenge matches on Saturday week. All members are requested to attend. On the following Saturdav a hockev and football match will be'''played, when the Stable representatives will again be in action. PUBLIC PRESENTATION. It is proposed to make a presentation to Mr and Mrs W. McCormack, old residents of the town, who are shortly taking their departure. A subscription list has been opened at the Borough Chambers. It is thought that many w'ould like to express their appreciation of Mr and Mrs McCormack’s services to the community. PAHIATUA. PERSONAL. Mrs C. Walker, of Pahiatua, is a visitor to Wellington. Mrs R. A. Burke is ail inmate of the Pahiatua Hospital. Mrs E. J. Poole is visiting Wellington. Mr A. Nelson, formerly of Pahiatua, and now of Havelock North, is a visitor to Pahiatua Miss H.
