EMPIRE AIR MAILS.
AUSTRALIAN MINISTER’S VIEW. Received August 25, 11.15 a.m. SYDNEY, Aug. 25. “I am not impressed,” said Mr H. V. Thorby (Minister of. Defence), when his attention was directed to the large quantities of ordinary mails being received from New Zealand for transport by the flying-boat service to England. Mr Thorby added that at present the aerial mail service from Britain and New Zealand is being extensively tised for the sending of circulars and other advertising matter. It was never intended that the flying-boat service should be subsidised for such a purpose.
