'All lovers of the nobio art enjoy amateur bouts, and next Monday at the Opera House the Manawatu Boxing Association will stage its annual boxing championship: This promises to be a great fight programme, boys from Palmerston North, Feilding, Kimbolton and a number of otntries from the capital city of Wellington should make things very interesting indeed. The local boys are forward in condition and, judging from their form in the gymnasium, they will make things merry for their opponents. There is no doubt that there’s something doing all the time when the amateurs meet and the publio are sure of a great night’s entertainment next Monday. The prices are 2s 6d, plus tax, to the ringside, ladies and boys half price. Thursday, September 1, is the date set down for the big fight, Aitken v. Clarke. This will be a thrilling encounter.
