AT AWAPUNI.
BLEAK WEATHER FAVOURS FURS
Snow on the hills, an overcast sky, and a keen wind blowing right into the grandstand did not make the Awapuni racecourse a very inviting place on Saturday. However, the ram held off- till the last race and a very fair number of people ventured out, warmly clad for the most part in furs and tweeds, brown and navy being the predominating colours. Among those noticed on the lawn were:—-Mrs G. M. McCaskill, black ensemble with mauve flowers, black plateau felt hat and grey squirrel coat; Mrs M. H. Oram, brown fur coat and brown felt hat, Mrs J. Pegden, grey squirrel coat and sapphire-blue upturned velour hat; Mrs 51. Millar, black coat trimmed with fur and brown felt bat; Miss K. Einden, clover frock, wine velvet hat and browm fur coat; Miss R. Gillies, navy and white upturned hat, brown fur coat: Mrs C. Melville, black and white cheek suit, black felt hat, and brown fur coat; Mrs C. S. Lawson, brown fur ocat, brown hat, Mrs L. M Abraham, brown fur coat; navy felt hat; Miss Diana Abraham, navy coat, navy halo lint; Miss Murray Hamilton, grey squirrel coat, Paris brown fur coat, brown hat, Mrs L. G. Cope, black suit, emerald scarf, black felt hat with emerald ostrich Illume, brown fur coat; Miss C. Ikneebone, Marina blue coat trimmed with grey and halo hat; Miss Ada Cope; navy coat, navy felt hat, trimmed with plaited ribbons of royal blue, cyclamen and petunia; Mrs G. B. Cope, brown fur coat, navy felt hat; Miss T. Anderson (Masterton), brown and white check suit, brown hat and camelhair coat; Miss Elaine Hall, dyed squirrel coat, brown sailor hat; Mrs K. Dean, grey coat, clover bateau felt bat; Miss June Mason, camel liair coat, Gloucester green frock and felt hat; Miss I. Attick, flank musquash coat and black felt bat; Miss V. Royal, tan suit, rust halo hat and brown fur coat, Sirs R. SI. Garner, brown fur coat, brown felt liat; Sirs E. Jensen (Otaki), brown fur coat, brown felt hat; Sirs Norman Foreman (Masterton), brown fur coat, nigger-brown velour hat; Mrs C.
