SHIPPING SERVICE.
Per Press Association. • INVERCARGILL, June 24. The need for a continuation of the Melbourne-South Island passenger shipping ■ service for a full year was urged at a conference of - Southland local body representatives and Southland members of Parliament this afternoon. It was stated that a subsidy would be necessary, and a proposal was made that harbour boards should contribute to the cost if the Government would validate such expenditure.
