NATIONAL PARTY.

PALMERSTON NORTH BRANCH. The annual meeting of the Palmerston North branch of the New Zealand National Party was held in the Empire Hall, on Thursday, when Mr H. G. Mills presided over a large attendance. The report was presented and disclosed a very sound position. The membership, it was stated, was steadily increasing week by week, indicating that an unprecedented 'ifiterest was being taken in political affairs by electors. The executive, committee'had been active throughout the year, and with the assistance of other members had succeeded in building up an enthusiastic and efficient organisation. The report, which emphasised the splendid work undertaken by the women’s division, was adopted with a round of applause. A strong and representative executive committee was elected for the ensuing year. After the completion of the formal business a short address was given by the selected National candidate, Mr J. A. Nash, whose interesting review of the political situation was thoroughly by members. Mr Nash expressed, “his gratitude for the effective organisation which was giving his candidature such solid support, and struck ah optimistic note as to the National Party’s prospects. A notable feature of flip meeting was the spirit of unanimity which prevailed and the desire of members to get together for effective team-work. : • It was intimated that in the near future addresses would be delivered in Palmerston North by Mrs W. A. Bodkin (wife of the . member for Otago Central), and Mr S. G. Smith, M.P. for New Plymouth. ■
